Young local designer Giulia Pandolfino.Giulia Pandolfino is a swimwear designer who recently graduated from the London College of Fashion and soon after launched her resort-wear brand Isle&Aqua in summer 2017.
During her university days, the budding fashionista had interned at a number of brands, such as Prism in London and La Perla in Italy. These experiences led her to acquire valuable industry knowledge and design skills that are essential for any budding entrepreneur in the fashion industry. Notably, her work has also been featured on British Vogue and Vogue online.
In its initial season, the brand quickly gained momentum, with striking and easily recognisable swimwear soon seen across Maltese beaches and beach clubs.
Isle&Aqua’s ethos is to create unique and high-end yet wearable pieces, while still keeping comfort and perfect fit in mind.
The upcoming High Summer collection ‘Gypsea’ takes inspiration from the idea of the gypsy mermaid.
Instead of clothing, the Isle&Aqua woman decorates herself with jewels and accessories. She collects lost coins, attaches them to her garments and creates charm bracelets from them. As she touches the Mediterranean water, her skin gleams and glistens and seems to turn to glitter as it is caught by the warm sun.
Hand-illustrated Maltese coin prints are the protagonists of this collection.
Print colours are taken from vibrant underwater reefs. Unifying the collection are the jewel-toned purple satin elastics intertwined within rose-gold hardware, a signature Isle&Aqua feature which glamourises each piece and transforms them into beautiful pieces of body jewellery.
With each collection, Isle&Aqua looks towards unusual colour, rich textures and decorative features to create a range of products that are completely different to what is usually seen within the luxury and high-street swimwear market.
