A nightclub on the outskirts of Żebbuġ is facing a number of court cases for loud music, but residents will not get any respite with regards to the time that the music continues playing.

Responding to a parliamentary question by MP Godfrey Farrugia, Home Affairs Minister Michael Farrugia pointed out that the nightclub in question – which is not named, in line with parliamentary procedure – was given a licence by the Tourism Authority in 2006 to play music outdoors until 4am.

The minister said that the Rabat police respond to reports and complaints, and also do surprise visits to check that the nightclub closes on time as per its licence.

He promised that these visits would continue.
