An underage Maltese driver has been arrested in Poland after he killed a cyclist in a traffic incident on Sunday, Polish media have reported.
The 17-year-old was driving a Mercedes in Bielawa, near the Polish capital Warsaw, when he fatally hit a 77-year-old cyclist on Sunday afternoon. The victim died on the spot.
“He probably lost control of the vehicle,” Piaseczno police chief Jarosław Sawick told TVN Warszawa. “Unfortunately he veered to the left and collided with the cyclist.”
The unlicensed Maltese teen was arrested by Polish police, who said that he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.
