New café – it’s all about U!

U&Co Social Café recently opened its doors at the new Pendergardens Retail Podium in the heart of St Julian’s.

With a vision to ‘create memorable hospitality experiences delivered in an authentic and unique way’, United Group has launched its new subsidiary United Catering. The goal of this new venture will be to create new casual dining hospitality concepts in Malta.

The first of these concepts is the U&Co Social Café.

“We felt there was a gap in the market for a high-quality café to become known as the meeting place for a quick cup of coffee, a healthy breakfast before work, a friendly brunch or sharing of a quality glass of wine after work. Everything, from the design of the space to the flexibility of our chef in tailoring healthy menu items for our guests, is about delivery of a quality experience with minimum fuss, ensuring there is something for everyone all day long. We have also taken time to invest in our team to make them feel engaged in the experience we wish to deliver through this new concept,” said United Group CEO Edmund Gatt Baldacchino.

“The ‘U’ in U&Co is significant and helps provide a further explanation of the concept. From the moment you walk in, you get a sense of a downtown New York bistro with lots of space and a minimalist approach to design. The U is also symbolic of the desire to create a space where individuals or groups feel comfortable and relaxed in either connecting with the outside world with complimentary Wi-Fi, or with friends and colleagues while enjoying a light snack, beverage or meal.”

The venue has a feeling of openness and space, with a mezzanine level and outside seating. The upper level can be used for small meetings, celebrations or any event. General manager Sandro Vella and chef Mark Borg are happy to create a bespoke menu for any occasion.

Parking facilities are available at the Pendergardens public car park.

U&Co Social Café opens every day from 7am and throughout the day serving breakfast, snacks, beverages, lunch, after-work refreshments and dinner.
