Through Found ă mentalism II, Germany-based contemporary art organisation Ostrale strives to inspire artists across the globe to reject indifference when it comes to the conflicts and struggles surround them, but instead to offer a new perspective for a more positive future.

“Found ă mentalism II heralds the growth of a diverse cultural, political and economic European society, where global conflict provides an opportunity for art to act against potential violence, and embrace cultural diversity and tolerance,” say the exhibition’s co-curators Andrea Hilger and Antka Hofmann. “Through this project, we ask if art can come to act as the mutual support between these diverse cultures, and if it can provide a remedy for current societal crises.”

The exhibition, which showcases the varied styles of the many contributing international artists, is the latest collaborative project between Spazju Kreattiv and Ostrale, in an alliance that has been developed to facilitate further exchanges between artists based in both countries.

The exhibition features a dynamic collection of pieces across varying mediums, including video art, sculpture, photography, drawing and installations. The artists themselves, meanwhile, hail from Israel, Russia, China, Europe and beyond.

Spazju Kreattiv artistic director Toni Sant elaborated: “We are delighted to present Found ă mentalism II at Spazju Kreattiv; exchanges such as this serve to inspire collaborations, increase exposure and encourage growth within the artistic community, while providing further opportunities for broader audiences to access contemporary art on an international level.”

As part of the long-term agreement between Spazju Kreattiv and Ostrale Biennale, a call for a selection of contemporary work to travel to the Ostrale Biennale for Contemporary Art in Chemnitz, Germany, in 2019 was recently released. This initiative will provide an exciting international platform for artists.

The exhibition runs until July 29 throughout Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier.
