The Prime Minister's official vehicle was involved in a traffic collision in Marsa on Friday, with Joseph Muscat's chauffeur slightly injured in the crash.

Dr Muscat was not in the car at the time of the collision, the Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement.

The OPM said that the van had crashed into the back of the Prime Ministerial vehicle while it was idling at traffic lights. Its chauffeur had just filled up the car's fuel tank.

The driver was taken to a health centre to receive treatment for some minor injuries to one of his legs. Nobody else was hurt in the crash, the OPM said.
