Roads leading to Buskett will be repaired and resurfaced before next month's Mnarja festivities, the Infrastructure Ministry said on Tuesday.

It said that the roads which snaked around the forest’s trees had not been repaired for many years.

Works will include the peeling off of the existing road surface, to be replaced by new layers of asphalt.

The rebuilding of the roads is scheduled to be completed before Mnarja on June 29.

The ministry said other rural roads used by hundreds of farmers in the Naxxar, Żebbuġ, Marsascala, Marsaxlokk, Qrendi, Baħrija, Ħal Far, Attard and Żabbar areas were also being repaired.

While some were being financed through EU funds, others are being covered by the national budget.
