Pianist Ramona Zammit Formosa is today presenting Spanish and Latin-American music at a lunchtime concert organised by Barocco Foundation at St Augustine Monastery, Valletta.

She will be performing works by the Catalan-born Enrique Granados – Danzas Espanolas, Galante, Oriental and Rondalla Aragonesa. The programme also features numbers by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla, who revolutionised traditional tango by including jazz and classical music elements. Zammit Formosa will play his Oblivion, Milonga del Angel and Street Tango.

Other numbers include Spanish artist Isaac Albeniz’s Sevillanas, Federico Mompau’s Caciones y Danza no. 6 and Cuban-born Ernesto Lecouna’s Malaguena.

After the concert, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a free guided tour of the monastery museum.

Proceeds from the event will go to the restoration project of the Augustinian monastery.

The concert starts at noon. Tickets can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details, call 7968 0952 or send an e-mail to baroccomalta@gmail.com.
