Classical guitarist Bernard Catania will be giving a concert at the St Francis Oratory in Valletta tomorrow.
Catania will be perform a wide-ranging repertoire that covers baroque, Spanish, Latin-American and contemporary classical guitar music.
He will be performing works by Isaac Albeniz, Francisco Tarrega, Enrique Granados, Jaoquin Turin and Gaspar Sanz, among others.
The baroque oratory was originally the friars’ refectory. Over the years, it has been transformed into an oratory; hence magnificent baroque paintings, an elaborate gilded altarpiece and monks’ benches adorn it. This place is usually closed to the public and the lunchtime concerts are a wonderful way to visit the chapel.
These concerts raise funds for the Franciscan church.
The concert will be held tomorrow at St Francis Oratory in Republic Street, Valletta, at noon. Tickets for the lunchtime concerts can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert begins. For more details, call 7968 0952 or send an e-mail to baroccomalta@gmail.com.
