The inaugural edition of the Malta Blockchain Summit is still ahead of us, but it’s receiving the kind of validation that is normally reserved for long-established calendar mainstays.

The Maltese government declared its intention to make Malta an international hub for blockchain and DLT fairly recently, but the intervening months have seen a lot of progress on the public front – legislative efforts being the main focus.

The Malta Blockchain Summit was conceived soon after, organised by Eman Pulis and the team behind the SiGMA family of iGaming-themed events. These events have been characterised by their ability to promote the Maltese iGaming scene on the global stage, and have been a contributor to the Maltese iGaming ecosystem because of their steadfast commitment to facilitating the success of their partners. They’re hoping to bring this same formula to Malta’s fledgling blockchain and DLT scene – meaning that the success of the summit will also be measured by the value it brings to others.

“We’re organising the Malta Blockchain Summit to complement efforts at the national level to make Malta the premier jurisdiction on this emerging tech,” said Pulis.

“We’re independent, but we’re very heartened by the level of support we’ve been getting. The Prime Minister is a keynote speaker. The President of Malta is the star guest at the Malta Blockchain Awards and the associated charity dinner, and Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri is also speaking at the conference.”

Malta Enterprise is also supporting the event, and will be exhibiting at the expo – and the Malta Tourism Authority has been heavily promoting the event.

“It’s going to be the largest show, and we have the track record to prove it,” said Pulis. “The support we’ve been getting from the biggest players in the sphere is something we’re very proud of.”

Pulis has made a name for himself on the back of the SiGMA family of events. In fact, the same team behind these events is now championing the Malta Blockchain Summit.

“One of the reasons we’ve been successful in the iGaming sphere is that we’re trusted,” he explained. “We’re fair and impartial with our clients and collaborators, and we don’t hog the attention for ourselves. We’re just there to organise the show, and let all our speakers, sponsors and exhibitors take the limelight. The same approach will be followed as we launch the Malta Blockchain Summit. Our team shines a light outwardly and towards the industry, not inwardly towards our own brand. That’s how, and why, our clients trust us with their brand in turn.”

Indeed, a number of international luminaries are also expected to bring their talents to the show. Most recently W Scott Stornetta, known as one of the founding fathers of blockchain, has been confirmed as a speaker. Dr Scott Stornetta’s legendary status in the blockchain sphere makes him one of the most anticipated speakers on the event schedule.

“I am happy to provide useful ways to support Malta in its efforts to strengthen its already leading position in establishing itself as a centre of blockchain-related activity,” said Dr Scott Stornetta. “Hence, my focus is on delivering a keynote that will be unique, entertaining and valuable for its insight to all attendees at this summit.”

Dr Scott Stornetta joins a stellar speaking cast that includes Miko Matsomura, Mike Butcher, newly-appointed MFSA chief executive officer Joseph Cuschieri and MEP Eva Kaili. Boasting over 4,000 delegates, 100 speakers and 150 sponsors and exhibitors, the Malta Blockchain Summit promises to be an innovative and momentous opportunity for global influencers to network, forge new connections and debate the potential applications of blockchain across myriad industries such as health, entertainment, government, and banking. The floor plan is practically sold out already, and the expo ranks as one of the hottest tickets around. The brave new world of blockchain or DLT is definitely something worth investigating – and there’s no place to engage with it than the Malta Blockchain Summit.
