A prize-giving ceremony was recently held for some 100 pupils in Year 6 from 14 schools who earlier this year took part in the poster competition Etre vedette, c’est chouette after their first French language taster course.

The competition, organised by the French Subject Area of the University of Malta’s Department of Languages and Humanities (DLHE) as a form of outreach towards schools, required the pupils to create a poster after having carried out some research on a French celebrity of their choice.

During the ceremony the pupils played fun language games organised for them by MTL and B.Ed students preparing to become teachers of French. The department offered certificates of participation to all the pupils and certificates of merit to the winners. The latter were also presented with gifts, French delicacies and book prizes by the Embassy of France and the Centre Franco-Maltais.
