More than 100 new counsellors have received their professional warrant and will now be permitted to offer licensed counselling services to clients.

The 113 counsellors were handed their warrants by Family Minister Michael Falzon
at a ceremony held on Friday evening.

Dr Falzon noted that counselling had only become a warranted profession following a change of laws two years ago, and praised his ministerial predecessor Michael Farrugia for having piloted the May 2016 legal changes.

He urged the newly-warranted counsellors to cooperate closely with psychologists, psychotherapists and others in related fields.
