Qrendi local council is organising the sixth edition of the Potato and Agrarian Festival.  The event will be held tomorrow from 8am at Maqluba square, Qrendi.

Throughout the day’s event, local potato seed importers and potato exporters will be given the opportunity not only to exhibit their harvesting machinery and to sell their freshly lifted potato crops, but also to provide information and advice on the various potato species available on the market as well on the care of potato cultivation.

Several innovative dishes using potato as the main ingredient will be served, including deserts such as ice cream.

Village attractions and sites can be visited by a fun train, including the Neolithic temples of Ħaġar Qim, admission of which can be made by a token through a reduced fee of €2, courtesy of Heritage Malta.

Traditional Maltese għana, along with flamenco dancers will be performed from 9am onwards, followed by the blessing of animals and pets. The Malta Police Force K9 section will also be conducting an obedience and skills display.

There will be music and dance entertainment by established and upcoming artists, including the bands Moonshine and Tea Crisis, singers Corazón and this year’s Malta Eurovision Song Contest winner, Christabelle.  The event also includes a car exhibition and falconry and birds of prey. Works of art featuring the Maltese agriculture and environment will also be on display.

The event is being held in collaboration with the Ministry for Justice, Culture and Local Government and the Malta Arts Council.
