A lunchtime concert highlighting operatic arias by Verdi, Rossini, Puccini and Cilea, will be held today at St Augustine Monastery, Old Bakery Street, Valletta.

Presented by the Barocco Foundation, the concert will feature tenor Alan Sciberras and pianist Sofia Narmania.

The programme includes Verdi’s Celeste Aida from the opera Aida and Dei Miei Bolenti Spiriti and the Prelude from La Traviata. The programme also features Puccini’s Recondita Armonia from Tosca, Che gelida manina from La Bohème and Cilea’s Lamento di Federico from L’Arlesiana.

Narmania will perform a number of piano solos, including Pachelbel’s Canon in D major, Mascagni’s Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana, Chopin’s Nocturne in C sharp minor and Etude Op. 10 No. 12.

After the concert, visitors will have the opportunity to see the chambers of the monastery for free.

The concert starts at noon. Tickets can be obtained from the venue itself half an hour before the concert. Proceeds will go to the Augustinian Monastery restoration project. For more details, call 7968 0952 or e-mail baroccomalta@gmail.com.
