APAP. On May 20, ANTHONY, of Sliema (ex-manager Radiography Services, St Luke’s Hospital), passed away peacefully, at the age of 82, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his sad loss his wife Giovanna née Micallef, his children Christine, and Peter and his wife Christine, his beloved grandchildren Edward, Lisa and Simon, his brother Lino and his wife Doris, his sister Maria, widow of Victor Vella, his sisters-in-law Margaret and her husband Albert Borg Costanzi, Rosemarie and her husband Louis Buttigieg and Theresa and her husband John Psaila, his cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Tuesday, May 22, at 8.15am for St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45am followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank his doctors and home-carers, as well as the medical and nursing teams at M1 Ward at Mater Dei Hospital for their dedication and patience.

CASSAR. On May 19, JOSEPH, aged 70, passed away at home after an illness bravely bourne. He leaves to mourn his terrible loss his wife Tania, his daughters Mateja and Reuben Farrugia, and Valentina and Michael Camilleri, and his beloved grandchildren Max, Alex, Gina and Stella. Through his illness he was comforted by the memory of his parents Joseph and Maria Stella, his sister Antoinette and his beloved grandson Ben. He also leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters Maryanne, Lolly and Gladys, Carmen Desira, Michael and Rosalyn, and Vicky and George Muscat, his mother-in-law Minka Ferrante, his in-laws Marinka Ferrante, Anna Ferrante, and Nadine and Gianni Merola, his many loving nephews and nieces and their families, and other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Tuesday, May 22, at 1pm for St Joseph parish church, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 1.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta. Lord, grant him eternal rest. Thanks to the dedicated staff at Mater Dei Hospital and Hospice Malta.

HAYES. On May 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, THOMAS EDWARD of Qawra, aged 95, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sisters Kathleen and Eileen, his brother Peter and his wife Joan, Dolores, Mary and Charles, his nephews and nieces, the Gauci family and his many friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Wednesday, May 23 at 8.45am for the St Francis of Assisi parish church, Qawra, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 9.15am, followed by interment in the family grave at Mqabba cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Richmond Foundation, St Venera, will be appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest.

SCERRI. On May 15, at Kings College Hospital, UK, HERBERT, passed away peacefully at the age of 61 comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his mother Mary, widow of Joseph Muscat, his son Keith and Abigail, his daughter Angela, his devoted partner Anna and her children Philip, Nicky and Michaela Pace, his brothers and sisters Victor, Doreen, Lucienne and Johann and dearest auntie Jessie, uncle Emanuel and uncle Caesar Scerri, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. A funeral service, praesente cadavere, will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, May 22, at Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, at 2pm. Donations to Puttinu Cares would be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

VELLA. On May 20, at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre, Mater Dei Hospital, FR ARTHUR G. VELLA, S.J., aged 87, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brethren in the Society of Jesus in Malta, his brother Biagio and his wife Giulia, his sister-in-law Helen, widow of Joseph, his nephews and nieces, among them Fr Bertrand OFM Cap., other nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated on Thursday at 3.30pm at Assumption of Our Lady parish church, Mosta, followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to the Jesuit Infirmary for aged and sick Jesuit Fathers and Brothers will be greatly appreciated. May he rest in the peace of the Risen Lord.
