I recently had the pleasure of viewing Ivan Camilleri’s interview regarding the company 17 Black on the website of the Times of Malta.

It was moving to watch him at work; he was calm, efficient and full of hope. Thank you for doing your job.

We have lived abroad for years, and reading about our country, the corruption allegations and the Daphne Caruana Galizia tragedy saddens and angers us a great deal.

Mr Camilleri had the courage to ask the right questions of an elected official in a world which is hyper-connected and hyper-aware. Everyone, including many proud Maltese expats like myself can see how our beloved islands are being travestied into a Mafia State.

Some of these ministers appear to be amateurs ready for a lesson from the EU. They do not realise that the rest of the world is watching. This surely cannot have a happy ending.

Although I have never voted in Malta as I left when I was a child, I am still a Maltese citizen. I would like to somehow find the courage that you and other journalists show and help in my own way.

Again, thanks for your work, and God bless.
