The Culture Directorate within the Culture Ministry has launched a series of meetings with the public with the aim of discussing, analysing and evaluating how the culture sector is to develop in Malta in the first half of the coming decade.

Culture Minister Owen Bonnici attended the first meeting which focused on cultural communities.

“We encourage active participation for these meetings especially since the community is at the heart of our cultural strategy, and it is essential that we draw up this policy together. The new cultural policy aims to encourage the promotion of local talent and will also see to the strengthening of traditional and emerging communities to serve as catalysts of this cultural development, among other factors," Dr Bonnici said.

This consultation process will begin the first conversation about a new cultural policy for the period 2020-2025.

All sessions in Malta will take place at Fortress Builders, Valletta, while those in Gozo will take place at the Main Hall of Ministry for Gozo, Victoria. Weekday sessions start at 6.00 pm while those falling on a Saturday start at 9.30 am.
