I refer to the front-page pic-ture and the article ‘Three burial sites beneath cathedral’, which appeared on page 5 on May 10. The information in the report was wrong.

The three burials referred to are in the chapel of St George of the langue of Aragon. Possibly there are more. Not every tombstone on the floor of St John’s Co-Cathedral is a tomb, as was previously supposed. This is what was said in the press conference.

There are several burials through the church and this is known from the burial book records. The position of the burials is now supported by the ground-penetrating radar (GPR) project, carried out by the Physics Department of the University of Malta, commissioned by the St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation and performed under my direction.
