Darren Abdilla has extended his stay as coach of Gżira United after signing a new four-year deal, the club announced yesterday.

In an official statement, the club said, "We are delighted that our head coach Darren Abdilla has signed a new four-year deal."

"The 38-year old, winner of this season's MFA Coach of the Year Award will continue to instill his vision in our team in the future in order to reach new milestones."

Abdilla's tactical nous has been beneficial for the Maroons as he guided them to a historic third place which guaranteed them European football for just the second time in their history.

Meanwhile, the club has also managed to maintain the services of goalkeepers Anthony Curmi and Jurgen Borg, a day after renewing the contract of the other custodian Justin Haber.

Curmi has renewed for another year while Borg, who finished last season at Senglea Athletic, put pen to paper on a four-year deal.
