Fifty-six year-old New York nanny Yoselyn Ortega convicted of fatally stabbing two young children in her care, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
A jury found Ortega guilty in April of murdering 2-year-old Leo Krim and 6-year-old Lulu Krim back in October of 2012.
Their mother, Marina Krim, said she returned to her Upper West side apartment with her middle child - 3-year-old Nessie - to find her two children slain and their nanny standing over them stabbing her own neck with a knife…
The motive, prosecutors said, was Ortega's overwhelming financial problems bringing her 17-year-old son from the Dominican Republican, her workload and resentment toward Marina for being the mother "she could never be.."
Ortega's lawyers tried - and failed - to convince the jury to find her not guilty by reason of insanity.
