Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna is holding a public lecture in English by Christopher Jary, about the 231 Malta Brigade in Malta and Sicily during World War II.

Jary is the author of Yells, Bells & Smells – The Story of the Devons, Hampshires & Dorsets in the Siege of Malta 1940-43s.

Between June 1940 and March 1943 Malta was subjected to one of the most prolonged sieges in history. Jary’s talk will describe the part played in the siege by the soldiers of the 2nd Devons, 1st Hampshire and 1st Dorsets, who together formed the 1st Malta Brigade.

The lecture forms part of the Fondazzjoni’s programme of events surrounding the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Sicily.

The lecture is being held tomorrow at 6.30pm at Notre Dame Gate, St Edward’s Street, Vittoriosa. Entrance is free but pre-booking via e-mail to gabriel@wirtartna.org is advisable to secure a seat.
