Star of Strait Street, a new musical by Philip Glassborow, will be staged at the Phoenicia Malta Hotel, Floriana, tomorrow evening.

It is based on a true-life World War II love story in Malta that started when beautiful cabaret singer Christina Ratcliffe arrived in Malta to entertain troops at the Morning Star in Strait Street where she met dashing RAF air ace, Flying Officer Adrian Warburton.

Ratcliffe stayed in Malta throughout the war and worked in the Lascaris War Rooms. She was later awarded the British Empire Medal for her services to the RAF, and became known as ‘Christina of George Cross Island’.

The show will take the audience back to the wild days of Valletta’s most famous street and promises a feast for theatre and music lovers, Maltese history enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a good show. It stars Polly March, Larissa Bonaci and Geoff Thomas.

There will be two performances of Star of Strait Street at the Phoenicia Malta Hotel, Floriana, tomorrow at 7 and 9pm. For bookings, visit www.showshappening.com.
