Vassallo Group has organised a cultural diversity day within the group for the second consecutive year after last year’s positive feedback and turnout.

With the group employing individuals of over 50 nationalities, this event was much appreciated by employees. Cultural problems can range from miscommunication to actual conflict, all endangering effective worker productivity and performance.

Developing cultural appreciation and competence results in an ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures and work with varying cultural beliefs. A communication campaign preceeded the actual day and focused on the need to recognise and appreciate the cultural differences of employees at the place of work.

A good number of nationalities participated in this vibrant event which was held in the Poseidon Hall, Seashells Hotel, Qawra. Each country was provided with its own table and flag to display its traditional food and sweets for everyone to taste. Employees also wore their traditional clothing and performed songs or dance routines to entertain the crowd. 

Through this event it was evident that so many employees worked excellently together.

The group’s director of HR, Charlo Bonnici, said: “Vassallo Group’s philosophy is owed to cultural variety and the creative drive that results in working with a diverse team. The group believes that innovation and inspiration are further increased due to the cultural diversity within Vassallo Group.”
