Improvement and repair works are being carried out in a number of roads in the heart of St Julian’s and Paceville in preparation for the summer rise in tourist and entertainment activities.

Following discussions with representatives of commercial groups, the Infrastructure Ministry initiated a number of interventions aimed towards road improvements in these areas, as was done last year in the Buġibba and Qawra area.

The ministry said in a statement contractors have so far asphalted from scratch Triq San Ġorġ in Spinola Bay. Similar works will be carried out in several other roads in the coming weeks to boost the zone’s infrastructure.

Other works in preparation for summer are also being carried out along several routes which lead to popular bays, such as those leading to St Peter’s Pool in Delimara, and the main route which leads to Mellieħa, Għadira, Armier and Ċirkewwa, among others. Work on the rebuilding of roads leading to Għar Lapsi Bay in Siġġiewi is also underway.

In the near future, the ministry’s Infrastructure Directorate will join Infrastructure Malta, which is planning and implementing the government’s €700 million investment in the coming years aimed at achieving a great leap forward in the efficiency, safety, and quality of road infrastructure in Malta and Gozo, the ministry said.
