DJ Jazzy Jeff is a name that hip-hop fans, as well as those who used to follow the Fresh Prince of Belair TV series back in the late 1980s and 90s, will instantly recognise.

Who doesn't remember the adorable doof that was Jazz, Will Smith's BFF on the show? Or the signature handshake that was imitated - and messed up - by millions of fans worldwide? All together now - "Psssshhh".

But Jazzy Jeff's collaboration with Will Smith extended beyond television - he was one half of the DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince duo, winning several gold and platinum-selling albums and singles, as well as the first rap Grammy Award ever presented in 1989 for Parents Just Don't Understand. They also won a second Grammy for Summertime.

Jazzy Jeff went on to become a successful solo R&B and hip-hop artist, performing the scratch overdubs for 2015's Straight Outta Compton.

Jazzy Jeff will be performing today, May 11, at Aria Complex. Doors open at 8pm. The event is presented by DAM Events and Aria Complex and is part of The Straight Outta Hip Hop Summer Tour 2018, which will see a number of top hip-hop artists performing. Names include Big & Dave, Sean Rickett, Bev Man aka Sean Fenech Adami and Julian Drury.

Tickets are available online.
