Christabelle's Eurovision dreams came crashing back to Earth on Thursday night, but the singer says her semi-final elimination does not mark the end of her work to end taboos surrounding mental health.

In a Facebook post uploaded on Friday afternoon, the Maltese singer expressed her gratitude towards the team backing her from start to finish and said she was "extremely humbled" by well-wishers' messages of support.

"I will continue watching this performance over and over again fro the rest of my life with a massive, massive smile on my face," Christabelle told her fans. "The result doesn’t define my feelings towards our hard work and the stage performance as well as getting the message across to BREAK THE TABOO."

Christabelle, whose entry Taboo focused on preconceptions surrounding mental health, said she would continue to serve as ambassador for the President's Foundation for Social Wellbeing and as an advocate for Global Citizen.

Taboo failed to pass the Eurovision Song Contest jury's muster on Thursday, with Malta among the eight countries which faltered in the contest's second semi-final.

The Eurovision Song Contest final will take place on Saturday evening.
