John Guillaumier proclaims a triumphant phlegmatic sinless world in contradiction of  Catholic Church’s teachings and stark reality. On top of that, with a stroke of self-glorification, against all Socratic elenchus, he endorsed with arrogant persistence last year’s self-appointed sainthood.

For Catholics, human action would be impossible without a measure of faith and optimism, without the willingness to act despite uncertainty. But to err is human and to be human one must continually risk and often commit error.

Even the Bible, we remind ourselves, tells us that the just man commits mistakes seven times a day. And what more heinous sin could be committed right from the beginning of time than Abel’s murder?

“You, a cripple because of your sins, paralysed because of the vices you contacted do not despair, start walking because the Lord will take you by the right hand and help you on your way.”

Going against the grain seems to be a pastime and passion for Guillaumier.
