Four hanging works each measuring around six metres long have become the largest piece of art within Fondazzjoni Kreattività’s permanent collection.

The works, which form part of a multi-media installation by Chinese artist Yang Zhiling, have been added to the national collection through the Valletta International Visual Arts Festival.

Titled To Carry Along Your Own Sunshine, the works form the centre-piece of the Mr Zhiling’s exhibition The ‘Tao’ of Nature. Mr Zhiling is the first independent contemporary artist from China to have a major solo exhibition as part of VIVA.

The ‘Tao’ of Nature exhibition was produced in collaboration with the China Cultural Centre, Malta, and curated by Liang Shuhan.

Since 2016, Fondazzjoni Kreattività has undertaken the task of archiving and cataloguing its Permanent Collection, which is currently stored at St James Cavalier.

This project is set to be completed in 2020 as part of the Fondazzjoni Kreattività’s 20th anniversary celebrations, when the collection will be made accessible to the public.

The ‘Tao’ of Nature, part of VIVA, is open to the public until May 20, in Space A, St James Cavalier, Valletta.
