The 18th-century church of the Assumption of Our Lady in Birkirkara (originally the town’s parish church) had been abandoned and rebuilt in the early 1970s.
This jewel of baroque architecture – which again became a parish church 10 years ago – is being carefully monitored for signs of structural instability.
Adrian Mifsud, the geo-technical engineer in charge of the monitoring, will be giving a public presentation on the work undertaken so far and on further measures to be taken to ensure the building’s stability.
This presentation is being held at the church on Thursday at 7pm. Everyone is invited. Parking is available in the church grounds.
