Hamburg SV, in danger of losing their record as the only ever-present team in the Bundesliga's 55-year-history, lost 3-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday but were given a stay of execution after rivals VfL Wolfsburg were also beaten.

With one match each to play, Hamburg are two points behind Wolfsburg who stayed in 16th place, the relegation playoff spot, with 30 points after losing 4-1 at RB Leipzig.

Hamburg can still drag themselves into a playoff if they win their final game, at home to Borussia Moenchengladbach next Saturday, and Wolfsburg lose at home to relegated Cologne.

Marius Wolf, Omar Mascarell and Alex Meier shared the Frankfurt goals while Hamburg had two goals disallowed, the first following a review by the video assistant referee (VAR).
