Valletta emerged winners 2-1 over Birkirkara in the FA Trophy Final to complete the double after clinching the BOV Premier League, just a couple of weeks ago.

Valletta, now winners of this competition for 14 times, last lifted the Trophy back in the 2013/2014 campaign when they defeated Sliema Wanderers 1-0.

Danilo Doncic's clan dominated the first half and they made their pressure count minutes before half-time when Kyrian Nwoko headed home from a corner to break the duck and scoring his second in four games in this tournament.

10 minutes from time, Valletta doubled their lead when Santiago Malano danced his way into the box and fired the ball into the near post as the Citizens were heading towards a comfortable win.

However, the Stripes pulled one back through Ognjen Rolovic whose freekick was deflected by the wall on 87 minutes.

Nonetheless, Valletta's resilience proved difficult to break as they managed to hold firm to their one-goal lead until the final whistle.
