The total number of visitors to the island went up by 18.4 per cent in March, reaching 167,197, who between them spent €116 million – an increase of 20.2 per cent.
This was in part because the tourists spent longer here, with the total number of nights up by 26.9 per cent, reaching nearly 1.1 million nights.
The largest share of guest nights (63.4 per cent) was spent in collective accommodation establishments.
The National Statistics Office said that the majority of trips - 137,504 - were for holiday purposes, while a further 15,673 were for business.
The March figures bring the total for the first three months of the year to 414,400, an increase of 18.8 per cent over the same period in 2017.
