Ray Farrugia stressed out the importance of commitment and pride when it comes to represent the national team, in his opening words as the newly-appointed coach of Malta on Thursday.

"The players should be proud to represent their country and whoever shows commitment and determination to don the Malta shirt, will definitely form part of my selection," 'Żażu' Farrugia said to timesofmalta.com.

Farrugia, who replaced Tom Saintfiet following the departure of the Belgian coach after just three outings as Malta coach, highlighted his idea on putting his efforts in changing the attitude and mentality of the players in the interest of gaining positive results.

"We have to work on our attitude in order to instill pride and identity in our national team," Farrugia added.
