I have just read what our Prime Minister wrote on Twitter regarding the surplus. These were his precise words: “Official data for 2017 confirms that, in just four years, we reversed the entire increase in public debt burden made by the previous three administrations.”

In fact, the surplus for 2017 reached the whopping sum of €438.6 million, the highest surplus in the whole EU. Remember Joseph Muscat saying he wants Malta to be the best in the EU? No wonder that, in the latest EU survey, 90 per cent of the Maltese people said that they were “ happy”.

One can then easily understand why all the anti-government forces, both here and abroad, are grabbing at anything they believe they can inflate or manipulate to try and dent the great popularity our Prime Minister and his government enjoy among the Maltese people. To mention just one example, take what happened in London where not just the Prime Minister was subjected to vile invective by around a dozen Maltese nationals but also our famous tenor, Joseph Calleja, who performed at a concert organised by Henley & Partners at Drapers Hall.

Contrary to those shameful Maltese protesters, the tenor spoke very highly of the economic progress being achieved and of the many advantages the IIP is bringing to our country.

Above all, he confirmed that the rule of law exists in our country. He reminded everybody, including the protesters, that though he had disagreed many times with Daphne Caruana Galizia’s writing style it did not justify her killing. He said he was giving to charitable institutions the money paid to him for the concert.

May Nationalist Party exponents and their front organisations learn from Calleja’s example.
