An exhibition of etchings by French artist Edouard Manet, Manet – Etchings: The Alfred Strolin Collection of 1905, curated by Mark Sagona and Chiara Gatti, will be on display at the Gozo Ministry in Victoria. A first for Malta, it is being organised on the 135th anniversary of the great master’s demise in 1883.

In conjunction with this exhibition, another collection entitled Graphic Works by the Great Masters, will be on display in the Art & Events Suite at the Vini e Capricci complex, Gozitano Agricultural Village, Mġarr Road, Xewkija.

This comes hot on the heels of another similar event held last November entitled Picasso and his Friends, during which exhibition graphic works by Picasso, Mirò and Matisse and an oil painting by Kees Van Dongen were exhibited.

The works in the current exhibition include etchings and other graphic works by some of the greatest names in western art, including Dürer, Rembrandt, Canaletto and Goya.

The Manet exhibition will be on display until May 20. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/mark.sagona.artist. Graphic Works by the Great Masters, organised by Valerio Ballotta, will be open Monday to Saturday between 11am and 4pm until May 19.
