The environmental regulator has approved three Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control permits for three separate firms working in the pharmaceutical and waste management sectors.

Marsa-based Amino Chemicals Ltd. has been granted an IPPC permit to continue operating at its facility, where it produces Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.

The Environment and Resources Authority also approved an IPPC permit for Crystal Pharma to decommission its site at Bulebel Industrial Estate and dismantle structures there.

A third IPPC permit, Greenskips Services Ltd. to temporarily store and repacking waste prior to its treatment, disposal or recovery elsewhere, was also approved by the environmental regulator.

IPPC regulations require certain facilities to obtain a suitable permit covering their environmentally-sensitive operations.

Aside from environmental obligations which firms must abide by while operating, IPPC permits also cover the dismantling of relevant structures, to ensure adequate environmental protection.
