A grand piano recital by pianist Grigory Sokolov will be held today  as part of the Malta International Music Festival, which runs until Tuesday.

In his second Maltese concert, Sokolov will be playing three sonatas of Joseph Haydn which have in common their minor key which Haydyn rarely used.

During Sokolov’s concerts critics and audiences alike are transported by the pianist, who completely transforms the instrument with his touch. He is famous for his numerous encores, which often turn out to be a highlight of the evening.

The concert will be held this evening at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, at 8pm. For tickets, visit www.showshappening. com and for more information about the festival, visit www.maltafest.eu.
