I just could not believe that the first story to be “revealed” by the group of “international journalists and media houses”, including the Times of Malta, in the so-called Daphne Project, was such a hyped-up story.

The obvious idea behind the story is to instil in the minds of gullible readers the possibility that Chris Cardona is somehow involved in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. And the only thing said to convince such gullible minds is that the minister, who regularly frequents Ferdinand’s Bar, in Siġġiewi on weekends, had once been seen talking to one of the alleged killers, who also frequents the same bar, which is also frequented by none other than Adrian Delia, the leader of the Opposition.

So, using the same logic that convinced this group of journalists that they had a hot story in their hands, all those who, from weeks or months prior to and after October 16, 2017 until the day the three alleged killers were arrested had spoken to any one of them in a public place in the presence of other people can be regarded as a suspect in the blogger’s killing. How utterly absurd.

What criminal, who happens to be the mastermind of such a heinous crime, would want to be seen together with the person who allegedly materially committed the murder in such a public place as a bar? The mind boggles. That this group of foreign journalists fell for the story, fed to them by a “prominent PN official”, simply beggars belief.

Which proves, if I may use what Martin Fenech said recently during a court hearing in connection with the murder case, that this story too “has been blown out of proportion”.
