Rubbish dumped by the side of the road is enough to make anyone’s blood boil, but imagine how much more infuriating it is when it takes place just after you have organised a clean-up.

And to add insult to injury, the rubbish was dumped right next to the 'clean-up' sign.

The Żabbar council had mobilised residents to help with the nationwide effort on Earth Day last Sunday, and was appalled to see more rubbish dumped.

“The dumping shows not only lack of respect but is also a sign of gross ignorance,” the council wrote on Facebook, reminding that there are harsh fines for littering and appealing for information.

It pointed out that the dumping was even harder to accept given that there is a nationwide free bulky refuse collection service, as well as various bring-in-sites and civic amenity sites.
