The winning photographs from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, organised by Heritage Malta’s National Museum of Natural History, are on exhibit at Heritage Malta’s Gozo office at the Citadel.

The competition was launched following an increase in the number of wildlife photography enthusiasts. A total of 340 photographs were submitted in three categories: flora, fauna and marine.

Apart from a winning photograph for each category, an overall winner was chosen from the 10 finalists. The competition attracted no fewer than 43 amateur photographers, who submitted images of flowers and birds, mammals, reptiles, fish and other animals.

The competition, for flora, fauna and marine, began after enthusiasm increased

Some of the photographs were reproduced as postcards and can be bought from all Heritage Malta shops.

The judges commented positively on the high quality of the photographs submitted, as well as the diversity of species captured in the images.

The three winning photos and six runners-up from each category are on display at Heritage Malta’s Gozo office until April 30, from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm. Entrance is free.
