The geological tests for the proposed Gozo tunnel cost €831,595.60, Capital Project Minister Ian Borg told parliament.

Replying to a parliamentary question by MP Chris Said, he said that the tests were part of the preliminary investigations for the tunnel and that they had been completed in March 2018.

Both the results of the geological tests and earlier seismic tests are now being studied and their results would be published at the appropriate time.

The tunnel project is being assessed by a consultative committee chaired by former parliamentary secretary Franco Merciea, James Piscopo represening Transport Malta, Jonathan Scerri (Transport Ministry), Shawn Micallef (Gozo Ministry), Michelle Piccinino (ERA), Sylvio Farrugia (PA), Sarah Pace (ex-officio project architect), and Frans Ghirxi (secretary).
