Over 400 people went to the Mater Dei emergency department with drug overdoses in 2017, Healthy Minister Chris Fearne said.

Replying to a parliamentary question by MP Ivan Bartolo, he said that 242 men and 159 women went to the hospital, and that their average age was 44.

The information was obtained from the triage notes and covered any drug overdose, including ones due to medication, as well as suspected overdose cases.
