Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin is today performing in Malta for the first time during the Malta International Music Festival. He will present a ‘poetic’ piano concerto called Travel Notebook by Maltese composer Alexey Shor.

Kozhukhin took concertgoers by storm last July when he made his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra. The pianist’s performances have been praised by critics as “spellbinding”, “imperious” and “mesmerising”.

Winner of the first prize in the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels at the age of 23, Kozhukhin has established himself as a leading pianist of his generation.

Travel Notebook is being held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre today at 8pm. Tickets may be obtained from www.showshappening.com.
