The visual arts project European Eyes, led by artistic director Mikiko Kikuta, has toured over 30 European capitals of culture since 1999.

The project extended an invitation to Maltese photographer Alexandra Pace and to Alice Wielinga from Leeuwarden-Fryslân, in the Netherlands, which this year are sharing the title of European Capital of Culture. Both photographers sought to capture Japan’s lifestyle through a European lens.

Curated by Lisa Gwen Baldacchino, the exhibition forms part of the VIVA 2018 Festival programme in collaboration with Valletta 2018 and the EU Japan Fest. After Malta, the exhibition will travel to Leeuwarden and Japan.

The exhibition runs until Sunday at the Upper Galleries, St James Cavalier, Valletta. Entrance is free.
