MEP Francis Zammit Dimech has been appointed by the EPP Group as rapporteur on working conditions in the EU.

The report which will lead to new legislation will deal with probation period, parallel employment, working hours and training, among other issues.

The former Nationalist minister said he will be meeting all stakeholders, including workers' representatives as well as businesses to ensure their views are reflected in the new legislation.

“Employees deserve highest respect for their work. We need to ensure transparent working conditions for all workers. I will be working to ensure the rights of Maltese workers are duly reflected in this legislation intended to strengthen current legal rights of employees while safeguarding our businesses from unnecessary burden,” Dr Zammit Dimech said during a PN conference.
