You have to hand it to him, Jason Micallef sure knows how to stir up publicity for himself and V18. And surely that must be a good thing, right?

So, when I read on social media that Jason had said that a certain person who had offended public decency and published a Facebook post filled with spite and venom should resign, I thought, “Oh no, the chap's going to heed his own advice and fire himself! And then where would that leave V18?”

Luckily that was not the case.

So, imagine my surprise when a few non-descript foreign writers decided to call for his resignation over a rather clever reimagining of the final words written by a dead journalist.

How dare they? If anyone should be calling for his resignation, surely it should be the artists involved in V18? But I forget, they're only, singing, dancing, and offering their services and so on - exactly like Joseph Calleja.

Surely it would be the board of directors of V18? You know, these people: Frank Farrugia (President of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry), Stephen Cachia (MCAST Principal, with Mr Stephen Vella acting as his delegate), Alexiei Dingli (Mayor of Valletta), Albert Marshall (Vice-chair of the board, Chairperson of Arts Council Malta), Douglas Salt (director of Frank Salt Real Estate Ltd - he serves on the board in his personal capacity), Marc Sant (President of the Association of Local Councils), Oliver Scicluna, (National Commissioner for Persons with Disability), Alfred J. Vella (Rector of the University of Malta, with Dr Carmen Sammut acting as his delegate) and Stephen Xuereb (Valletta Cruise Port CEO. He serves on the board in his personal capacity).

They would definitely be keen on upholding the values and credibility of this grand project.

It must take all the forensic skill of a well-honed journalist to come to the conclusion that 18 international news media outlets are spending time and money simply to attack the Labour Party in Malta

And what about his immediate boss, Culture Minister and man who likes to impersonate gerbils, Owen Bonnici? Why has he not yet come to the defence of this great and learned cultural icon?

One thing's for sure: there is absolutely no truth in the rumour that Micallef is "well in" with our Prime Minister, and their connections are purely professional.

Speaking of professional, isn't it great to see our journalists sticking up for their own? The Institute of Journalists were first in line to comment about the slapdown of the proposed anti-SLAPP legislation.

They were also the first to point out that it was highly irregular of Saviour Balzan, a professed journalist, to demand that Daphne Caruana Galizia's laptop should be handed over to the police - the same police who seemed to not be interested in the FIAU reports which are now leaking out.

It seems that the old saw of protecting your sources (which could possibly be traced through that very same laptop) is no longer high on journalists’ agenda. At least not for some of them.

And finally, sticking to the subject of journalism, it must take all the forensic skill of a well-honed journalist to come to the conclusion that 18 international news media outlets and their journalists are spending time and money simply to attack the Labour Party in Malta.

But such is the greatness of this political movement on the world stage, that that is the only conclusion that journalism university lecturer, part-time investigative reporter, and full-time Education Minister Evarist Bartolo has reached.

It is so obvious that all these organisations (as well as the deputy leader of the British Labour Party no less) are doing their level best because of their utter hatred for the Labour Party in Malta.

This is yet another Deep State tactic first discovered by Donald Trump. Amazingly enough, the Labour Party and our Prime Minister were also at the forefront last year when, like Trump, they discovered all the fake news around the Panama accounts non-story.

As Dr Muscat once told us, he delivers. We are not only the best in Europe, but the first in the world. Well, OK, the second. After Trump.
