A man wanted by police since February has finally been arrested, arraigned and remanded in custody over charges of attempted murder.

Mohammed Husayn Mustafa Omar, 32, of unknown address, was marched to court early on Friday afternoon pleading not guilty to his alleged involvement in a stabbing incident which took place on January 25 in Floriana.

Another Libyan man had suffered multiple stab wounds in the attack, which had occurred in Triq il-Miratur at around 8.00pm.

The alleged aggressor was charged with attempted murder, grievous injuries, the unlicensed possession of a sharp or pointed weapon and breach of public peace. He was also charged with being a relapser.

Lawyer Yanica Camilleri, assisting as defence counsel, made no request for bail and the arrested man was remanded in custody by magistrate Francesco Depasquale.
