Air Malta is to operate a weekly return flight to Bucharest on Thursdays from May 17.

The airline had to date only operated charter flights to the Romanian capital.

The sale of seats has started, with Go-Light hand luggage one-way fares at €39.

Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi said Air Malta will be operating over 4,000 more
flights than last year.

"We are continuing to work on our growth strategy and expanding Air Malta’s network. The new routes and added frequencies to popular destinations are opening up more the Maltese Islands to new tourism, economic and cultural opportunities for the benefit of the local community.”
