A tender for the stairs in Pjazza San Franġisk in Victoria is being issue for the third time, after the second call was cancelled.

MP Chris Said posed a parliamentary question to Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana, asking why the tender for the finishing works on the steps was cancelled, for the second time.

Dr Caruana said that the offers made had been non-compliant.

Three bids had been made for a call in 2017, with bids ranging from €387,000 to €565,000.

The Ministry for Gozo plans to regenerate this popular square in Victoria, with a public consultation process concluded on January 26, 2018.

St Francis Square, dominated by the church run by the monks of the congregation of St Francis of Assisi, houses the Ministry for Gozo and the government’s administration block.
