A Planning Authority has closed a second part of a scheme to assist tenants to restore old houses, following overwhelming response.

The scheme, Irrestawra Darek, which had four categories, was opened on April 2.

The category for private owners of residences located within an Urban Conservation Area was closed on Friday. The authority has now closed the category for senior citizens.

The PA is still receiving applications from persons with special needs and registered voluntary organisations within UCAs.

The category for persons with special needs gives a concession for works to be carried out not only on the facade but also to improve accessibility within the building. The scheme covers 70% of the cost of works, up to a maximum of €10,000 in both categories.
